Step 3: Manage the Schedule
After your FTE and PRN employees have had an opportunity to self-schedule shifts, the Unit Manager or Scheduling Coordinator logs in to Staffing Angel and reviews the scheduling numbers to manage the schedule. This means that the manager no longer needs to build the schedule from scratch since a large number of shifts have already been filled through set-schedules and self-scheduling. There are several tools that assist the Manager with this process:GAPS GridThe GAPS Grid allows the Manager to see all filled and open shifts for the scheduling period with live links to each day for managing open shifts. The Manager uses this tool as an at-a-glance working report to ensure compliance of all FTE and PRN work targets. If necessary the manager can directly schedule available employees with deficient work targets into open shifts with the click of the mouse. View Screenshots for Unit Scheduling Gaps |
Targets ReportThe Targets Report is a similar tool to the Gaps Grid as the Manager uses this tool at-a-glance to ensure compliance of all FTE and PRN work targets. The Target Report differs as it shows weekly compliance or non-compliance to all work targets by Staff for a given week. Similar to the Gaps Grid, The Manager can access an Employee’s Calendar through the Targets Report and schedule the Employee into open shifts to satisfy a work target requirement. |
Productivity and Census ManagementStaffing Angel RN™ allows Managers the ability to measure and track Unit productivity in Care Hours Per Patient Day, every day, for every shift. The integrated Census feature automatically measures and reports Productivity every time a Census number is entered. A second at-a-glance report shows the Manager Census-based scheduling costs vs. Current Scheduling so that effective scheduling decisions can be made that ensure safe levels of staffing for patients and compliance with budget requirements. Managing Last-Minute Call-OutsLast-minute Call-Outs, Shift Cancellations, Flexed and Floated shifts can be managed by the Supervisor instantly through the Daily Facility or Unit schedule. The process is completed with all documentation captured with just a few clicks of the mouse. View Screenshots for Call-outs |
